Ruto to Build a New State House in Meru
President William Ruto has hinted at building a new State House in Meru County.
Speaking in Laare on Sunday, Ruto who was responding to critics of his ‘many visits’ to Meru said he has already found government land in the county and his next plan is to build another State House on it.
The President said once it is complete, the people of Meru will no longer have to travel to Nairobi to meet him.
He went on to state that it would bring him closer to them and that way he would be able to solve their issues quickly and plan for other parts of the country.
“Nimepata shamba ya serikali hapa Meru nataka kuja kujenga hapa Ikulu. Wale walikuwa wanalalamika nimekuja Meru mara nyingi sijui watafanya nini kwa sababu sasa ntakuja Meru kukaa. Nataka nijenge hio ikulu mnipatie nafasi kidogo ndio mambo ya Meru tunamalizania hapa hakuna haja ya kuja Nairobi tunamalizania hapa. Na mimi nitakuja kuishi hapa ndio hii maneno kidogo kidogo mimi nanyorosha haraka,” Ruto said.
This loosely translates to, “I have found government land here in Meru and I want to build a State House. What will those complaining that I have come to Meru many times do because I will stay here? I want to build that State Lodge so that we handle Meru issues from here. There’s no need for you to come to Nairobi. I will come and stay here so that we quickly deal some your small matters.”
Ruto said the plan is because of the love he has for the people of Meru.
He referred to them as heroes of the nation saying that they helped the country get back its freedom.
“Ni kwa sababu niko na mapenzi kubwa sana na watu wa Meru kwa sababu ni mashujaa wa taifa letu la Kenya. Nyinyi ndio mlitusaidia kupata uhuru wa taifa letu (It’s because I have so much love for the people of Meru.. It is you who helped to get back our freedom)”
