EACC Goes After a Sitting Governor

Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission has released its report for the investigations carried between April and end of June.

A number of people are going to find themselves in hot soup after EACC announced the intention to sue them.

One of the affected individuals is a current governor. The governor is linked to loss of public funds and linked to the Lake Turkana Wind Power Project.

“Investigations revealed procurement irregularities and fraudulent payments for the contract between KPLC and Isolux Inginieria for construction of 400KV Transmission Interconnector power line from Loiyangalani to Suswa which resulted to loss of Sh18,499,082,672 and increased electricity tariffs,” said EACC.“Investigations revealed procurement irregularities and fraudulent payments for the contract between KPLC and Isolux Inginieria for construction of 400KV Transmission Interconnector power line from Loiyangalani to Suswa which resulted to loss of Sh18,499,082,672 and increased electricity tariffs,” said EACC.

It remains unclear of which of the forty seven governors will be sued as their name has not being revealed.

Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waitutu, his wife and his daughter are also part of the list of those EACC has recommend their prosecution.

The family is said to have wired Ksh 50 million to their accounts from county government illegally.
