BREAKING! NAIROBI GOVERNOR, KANANU NOMINATES HER DEPUTY

Kananu voiced her desire to be deputized by Mutungi, who is also the current Chief of Staff at City Hall, in a statement released on Wednesday, November 17.

Former interim Nairobi Governor and current Speaker Benson Mutura appointed Mutungi as Chief of Staff in January 2021 to succeed Brian Kamau Mugo.

However, the nomination will be presented to the Nairobi County Assembly, where MCAs will vote on whether it should be approved or rejected by a majority vote.

After Jonathan Mueke (20113-2017), Polycarp Igathe (August 2017-January 2018) who resign voluntarily, and Kananu, who took office in January this year, Mutungi will be the fourth Nairobi Deputy Governor.
