NEW CRUCIAL CHANGES IN APPLICATION OF GOOD CONDUCT

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has issued a caution to Kenyans who had applied for a certificate of Good Conduct at its Headquarters.

In a statement the agency shared on Sunday, June 12, DCI explained that individuals who had been scheduled to have their fingerprints taken at its headquarters along Kiambu Road should seek the service elsewhere.

DCI explained that the changes stem from interruptions caused by an upcoming event it dubbed a ‘national event’ planned for Monday, June 13.

The applicants, therefore, have been directed to have their fingerprints taken at any other Huduma Center across the country.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations notifies all applicants for the Police Clearance Certificate (Certificate of Good Conduct), scheduled to have their fingerprints taken at DCI headquarters tomorrow Monday, June 13, that the premises shall remain out of bounds due to a significant national event.

“Consequently, arrangements have been made to have the applicants visit any Huduma Centre within Nairobi City and have their fingerprints taken,” the statement read in part.

The agency, however, remained mum on the details of the national event scheduled at its headquarters grounds.

On the other hand, DCI has been preparing to open a state-of-the-art forensic lab long touted as part of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy before he leaves office.

Initial reports of the official opening of the lab began in February 2022 but the ceremony was shelved after the Head of State got other engagements.

Specifically, the lab, which is valued at Ksh4 billion and has already been contracted by Seychelles Government to help solve its crimes, was scheduled to launch on Feb 28.

However, the event was canceled after Uhuru got engaged elsewhere and DCI Director George Kinoti explained that some components of the projects were still being worked on and pushed its launch ahead.

Good conduct application is offered at Huduma Centers and select police stations countrywide.
