GIDEON MOI’S SON LIVING IN ABJECT POVERTY AND STEALING PHONES.
It is usually uncommon to see a son of a millionaire live a very pitiful life from doing manual jobs to stealing phones. Collins Toroitich who is like a son to Baringo senator Gideon Moi is languishing in abject poverty several months after his grandfather Daniel Torotich Moi passed on.
A few days ago, Collins Toroitich was allowed by a Nairobi court to be enjoined in his grandfather’s succession.
He argued that he has suffered damages as a result of being left out in the succession agenda and not getting multimillion properties belonging to the late Daniel Torotich Arap Moi.
As if that was not enough, Collins Toroitich is also fighting for wealth which his late father Jonathan left, adding that there were plans by the larger Moi family to defraud and disinherit him.
Always known for his controversies, Gideon Moi’s stepson Collins Toroitich has always found himself in problems as days go by.
For instance, he was charged in a Nakuru court with phone theft. Arguments before the court revealed that he stole two phones belonging to his daughter and that of her friend. Feeling ashamed and cornered by the theft case, Collins argued that he was compelled to confiscate the two phones as a parent! Thus, the court arrived at an out of court settlement.
In another case of failing to pay child support, his baby mama by the name Gladys Jeruto accused him of neglecting their two children. To defend himself, Collins confessed before the courts that he was swimming in extreme poverty (broke) and that he could afford to keep paying for the child support. However, the baby mama vehemently denied that her baby daddy was as poor as a church mouse.
Jeruto later went back to court, accusing him of applying ‘delaying’ tactics in paying the Sh 1 million monthly child support. Interestingly, Collins in a twist of events demanded a DNA test on the children to prove whether they were his.
Shockingly, Gideon Moi’s step son failed to show up during the day of the DNA test as was ordered by the court.
Sometime in 2020, Collins’ girlfriend was detained for over a week at a high-end hotel in Kitale for failing to clear a bill after they were booked in for days at the facility. Collins was said to have sneaked out of the hotel, leaving her behind.
This forced the Hotel administrators to detain her until the Sh100,000 bill was cleared since they did not have any other choice.
According to Skynest Hotel management as narrated by Nation, Collins, the son of Mr Jonathan Moi, and his girlfriend checked in on December 29 at 5pm and booked themselves in for six days as part of her birthday celebrations.
Fast-forward, he claimed his grandfather was worth over Sh300 billion and some assets were being hidden from the court.
Besides, he revealed that Gideon Moi’s lawyer Zehrabanu Janmohammed was concealing his grandfather’s several assets in a number of countries.
Gideon Moi is one of the presidential contenders who hopes to fly the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) ticket composed of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula.
The leaders commonly referred to as the OKA principals have not been able to agree on a candidate with words going round that Gideon Moi has a soft spot for a candidate that would be proposed by president Uhuru Kenyatta.
