WHY RAILA ODINGA IS LIKELY TO LOSE 2022 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

Jimi Wanjigi’s stab for the presidency received a massive boost on Sunday after Orange Democratic Movement party coordinators endorsed him.

The party coordinators from 16 counties announced their support for Wanjigi’s candidature during an event held in Nyeri county.

While details of the Sunday meeting remain scanty, the move will raise eyebrows in the Raila Odinga-led party especially after he displayed all intentions to vie in 2022.

Jimi Wanjigi announced his intention to vie for the presidency in the 2022 elections back in 2020.

An ODM member, Wanjigi joined the race for the ODM ticket that now features Mombasa and Kakamega Governors Hassan Joho and Wycliffe Oparanya.

The party leader Raila Odinga has competed for the presidency on the ODM ticket in the past three general elections.

While Raila Odinga seems to be the obvious choice for the ticket, Jimi Wanjigi is not a political newcomer.

The Kwacha Group of Companies CEO revealed in 2017 that the deal that united President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto was crafted at his house.

In 2017, Wanjigi chose to aligned with Raila Odinga and is believed to have been a key financier of Nasa coalition.

He boasts deep pockets that have become an essential need in Kenyan politics.

In early July, Wanjigi announced his intention to wrest control of the ODM party from Raila Odinga.

The moneyed tycoon has since embarked on meetings across the country with grassroots leaders and met Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on July 9th.
