Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa has implored on the Luhya community to throw their weight behind Raila Odinga’s candidature, saying that due to his age, the former premier will serve for only one term and pave way for their kinsmen.

The CS, who was flanked by DAP Kenya party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi and Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu as they addressed locals in Bungoma town, posited that the community was safer supporting the elderly Raila.

Wamalwa further opined that voting in a young Ruto would mean that their community will have to wait longer for power.

“As the Luhya community we should choose which route is easy in the succession politics, Odinga is old and will only serve one term, if we are loyal it is easy for us to be in the main succession politics,” the CS said.

Wamalwa, Wamunyinyi and Eseli Simiyu recently launched a new political outfit that has since been viewed by political observers as a move meant to dilute the influence of Mudavadi and Wetangula in the vote-rich region.

The Defence CS defended their move, stating that he was forced to form the new party due to the uending wrangles within the Ford Kenya party

Also speaking to the same gathering, DAP Kenya party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi stated that he ditched Wetangula’s Ford Kenya party because the Bungoma Senator was forcing them to support Ruto’s bid.

“We wanted to make FordKenya our party but unfortunately we were being forced to where we didn’t want to go,” Wamunyinyi said.
