PASTOR EZEKIEL ARRESTED AGAIN

Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s lawyers on Saturday, May 27 revealed that officers from Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) seized a number of items from New Life Centre and Church.

According to Cliff Ombeta and Dunstan Omari, who are leading Pastor Ezekiel’s legal team, the items included communication gadgets, holy water, handkerchiefs and computer drives.

The seizure happened during a police raid on the church to investigate and unearth more details in the Pastor Ezekiel’s case.

Ombeta and Omari confirmed that ATPU officers confiscated items, claiming they needed to analyze them in Nairobi.

“Officers from ATPU came to church on Tuesday and took communication items, computer drives, holy water, and handkerchiefs, explaining that it was for purposes of expert analysis,” stated Ombeta.

The incident was linked to ongoing investigations on Pastor Odero’s association with the controversial preacher Paul Mackenzi who is in police custody.

Pastor Ezekiel of New International Life Church, Kilifi, was arrested on April 27, on accusations of being pastor Paul Mackenzie’s accomplice.

Speaking at a press briefing, Coast Regional Commissioner Onyancha confirmed the arrest, adding that Odero’s church was closed.

“This morning we have arrested Pastor Ezekiel Odero for allegations of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported in various media institutions.

“We have also taken action and closed the prayer centre. We are urging and giving information to the public that the church has been closed and whatever was in there has been cleared out,” she stated.

Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s arrest was initiated after a local morgue in Kilifi County reported that five bodies were dropped at the facility by the pastor’s aides, a police report has revealed.

According to sources privy to the 8-hour grilling at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office in Mombasa, the bodies were reportedly undocumented – a move that saw police take interest in the matter.

Following the tip, police visited various morgues next to the New Life International Church on separate dates and grilled various morticians over any similar incidents.

During the visits to the morgues, police unearthed a trend where bodies were allegedly dropped at the facilities by church officials.

In a separate incident, Pastor Ezekiel Odero on May 8, suffered a major setback in his attempt to block the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) from scrutinising his bank accounts.

In a ruling that was delivered by Milimani Chief Magistrate Court, DCI officers were granted access to sixteen of Pastor Ezekiel’s bank accounts.

Chief Inspector Martin Munene had asked the court to probe the accounts belonging to Pastor Ezekiel over what he termed as possible illegal activities.

“It is necessary and desirable to issue the applicant with a warrant to investigate books of bank and mobile money services accounts so as to authorize the officer to have access to books relating to several account numbers,” read part of the ruling.
