NYS ANNOUNCES JOBS WITH 60K SALARY: HOW TO APPLY

The National Youth Service (NYS) has announced vacancies for jobs with up to Ksh60,000 salaries. 

In an advertisement published on Tuesday, May 10, NYS stated it had various openings in different job groups. The salaries range from Ksh30,000 to Ksh60,000. 

The jobs advertised have impressive benefits such as house, commuter and leave allowances that range from Ksh4,000 to Ksh6,000. 

Candidates meeting the criteria ought to apply before Tuesday, May 24.

Accountant 

Salary – Ksh31,270- Ksh41,260 per month

Allowances

House Allowance as per duty station

Commuter – Ksh4,000 pm

Leave – Ksh4,000 pm

Duties and Qualifications

1. Preparing and verification of vouchers in accordance with the laid down rules and regulations. 
2. Responsible for the safe custody of records and assets under them.
3. Prepare, verify and upload payment vouchers in the IFMIS system.
4. Collect revenue from income-generating streams and remit it to Accounting Officer.
5. Make cash payments for duly completed and approved payment vouchers. 
6. Balancing of cashbook, data entry, Advances and management of ledgers. 

-The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration from a recognised institution or a pass in part II of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examination
-Certificate in Computer applications from a recognised institution 
-Fulfilled the requirement of Chapter Six of the constitution

Information System Auditor 

Salary – Ksh42,970 – Ksh59,120 per month

Duties and Qualifications

1. Perform internal information system control, Audit reviews of a computer system, development standards operating procedures and program control. 
2. Prepare quality information system Audit reports. 
3. Participate in providing quality assurance in technology acquisition and implementation. 
4. Review system backup, disaster recovery and maintenance procedures. 
5. Recommend revisions to audit procedures to enhance efficiency. 
6. Conduct operational compliance, and financial and investigative audit. 
7. Design and program specifications in liaison with users, monitoring of control system which ensures the accuracy and security of data. 

Specification

-The candidate must have a degree in any of the following fields; Computer Science, ICT, or in any related studies from a recognised institution. 
-The applicant ought to have an experience of not less than three years in information systems auditing or ICT Quality Assurance. 
-Possession of a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is an added advantage.

Supply Chain Management Officer

Salary – Ksh31,270 – Ksh41,260 per month

Duties and Qualifications

1. The officer will be deployed in a Warehouse, performing Supply Chain Management duties and responsible to a senior officer. 
2. Procurement, distribution and management of stores. 
3. Disposal of stores and equipment. 
4. Participate in market surveys and research. 
5. Management of the inventory and stock control, in accordance with the laid down regulations and procedures.

Specifications 

-The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Procurement and Supplies Management or their equivalent from a recognised institution or Diploma in Supplies Management with three years of work experience. 
-They must possess a certificate in Computer applications from a recognised institution
-Good knowledge in the professional field of specialisation. 
-Ability to get on well with the diverse workforce
-Good communication skills
-Good organisation and supervisory skills.

Lecturer in ICT and Accounting

Salary – Ksh38,270 – Ksh51,170 per month

They must have a certificate in computer applications from a recognised institution.

Duties and Qualifications

1. Supervision of all road construction and maintenance works
2. Preparation of work programs for all camps. 
3. Ensuring that all ledgers, work tickets, log sheets, returns, master rolls, and daily activity cards, are completed in time and submitted as required. 
4. Advising on the priorities for maintenance programs and required distribution of plant, vehicles and staff. 
5. Ensuring the necessary stores, materials, fuel and any other tools received to undertake work assigned are properly utilised. 

Specification

The candidate should have a Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent. 
They must have three years of relevant work experience and a certificate in Computer Application

Assistant Engineer in Civil and Structural for Roads

Salary – Ksh38,270- Ksh51,170 per month

Duties and Qualifications

1. They will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
2. Supervision of construction. 
3. Maintenance of classified and unclassified roads. 

Specification

The applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
They must be registered by the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer

Quantity Survey 

Salary – Ksh38,270- Ksh51,170 per month

Allowances

Commuter – Ksh5,000 pm

Leave – Ksh6,000 pa

1. Assist in the management of quantity surveying aspects of building and civil engineering projects.
2. Measure drawings, check and compute quantities and site dimensions. 
3. Prepare project cost and budgetary estimates under the supervision of the Architecture. 
4. Scrutinise maintenance and material costs to ensure the best deals.
5. Select and source for construction materials. 
6. Keep track of materials and order for more when required. 
7. Report to the supervisor and client on the progress of the project till completion. 

Specification

They must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent and relevant qualification
The applicant must have a certificate of Computer from a recognised institution

Chaplain/ Principal Chaplain

Salary – Ksh38,270- Ksh51,170 per month

Duties and Qualifications

1. Officiating religious ceremonies and managing Chapels within prisons. 
2. Offering spiritual and psychological counseling and guidance to inmates’ staff and their families. 
3. Administering religious rites. 
4. Sourcing spiritual materials for preaching and teaching
5. Identifying volunteer groups and coordinating their programs. 
6. Participating in admission and discharge boards. 
7. Implementing spiritual rehabilitation programs.
8. Ensuring observance of the Christian Seasonal and special events 
9. Managing records on chaplaincy matters. 
10. Identifying chaplaincy development projects. 
11. Facilitating seminars, workshops and retreats for inmates, staff and their families. 
12. Collaborating with external faith-based and community organisations on matters of spiritual warfare. 
13. Preparing inmates and staff for graduation on completion of chaplaincy courses. 

Specification 

They must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following; sacred theology, Christian philosophy Theology and Bible Divinity, Islamic, and Arabic studies. 
They must be a serving senior catechist with six years’ work experience. 
A letter of recommendation from the head of the Church/ Mosque
They must be an ordained pastor or priest and licensed by the Government Authority. 
They must be a proven record of consistent Christian/ Muslim character. 
Have a certificate in Management course as well as computer applications.

Applicants who meet the stipulated criteria should send their letters with the title of the position being applied for, together with their detailed CVs, certified copies of academic certificates testimonials and National IDs or passports. 

The letterhead should be directed to NYS Director-General Matilda Sakwa. The applications should be dropped off at the Registry of NYS headquarters in Ruaraka, Thika Road, Ground Floor. 

Those without relevant qualifications, copies of documentation and details as sought will not be considered.
