MYSTERIOUS DISEASE KILLS 90 KENYANS.

An unknown flu-like infection has hit Marsabit County in the past two weeks killing at least 9 people while leaving more than 80 others sick in hospital.

According to the locals, the disease presents with Malaria like symptoms and has proven to have a very high fatality rate since symptoms started manifesting within the locals.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, May 10, the area chief said that they had lost at least 6 men and 3 children aged between one and three years. He called on the Ministry of Health to intervene immediately and screen the individuals in the area to prevent any further loss of lives.

One medic from the region spoke to the media saying that one of the victims who succumbed to the infection had tested positive for violent Malaria but the symptoms could still indicate a possibility of Kalazar infection.

Among the symptoms presented include flu-like symptoms, swollen spleen, yellowish discoloration of the eyes, and severe headaches.

This comes as the Kenya Medical Research Institute(KeMRI) continues to research a resistant mosquito strain that was discovered in Marsabit County.
