BLOWS EXCHANGED IN PARLIAMENT.

On May 3, the National Assembly was the scene of unruly events brought on by a contentious speech made by Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi.

When the politician asserted that retiring president Uhuru Kenyatta was the true leader of the Jubilee Party, it provoked discussion.

President Kenyatta would maintain control of the major political party till the general election in August 2022, according to Wandayi’s prediction.

He continued by saying that the former president could not be replaced since the proper procedures for having him removed from his role as party leader had not been followed.

Wandayi was only aware of one person, His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, who is a member of Azimio la Umoja and the Jubilee Party’s formal leadership.

Several onlookers vehemently booed and shouted their disagreement with Wandayi’s claim.

The situation worsened when Eldas Member of Parliament Adan Keynan raised a point of order after Nominated MP Sabina Chege was identified as the true head of the Jubilee Party.

Deep differences and disagreements inside the ruling party that had been festering since the 2022 General Election were exposed by the tense argument.

It remains to be seen how the party will respond to these concerns and whether they will have any bearing on the political climate of the nation in the coming months.
