6 MT KENYA MPs SECRETLY HELPING RAILA ODINGA

It’s now emerging that a team of politicians seen as rebels is coming up in the Kenya Kwanza wing, after weeks of the tag being a common one in the opposition’s Azimio La Umoja coalition.

Azimio has been dealing with a group of politicians, from the coalition’s major parties, seen as having abandoned the opposition’s policies and are now pushing those of President William Ruto.

But a team of Kenya Kwanza politicians from Mt Kenya has received the same tag, with their colleagues accusing them of pushing policies seen as Azimio boss Raila Odinga friendly and likely to help the former Prime Minister achieve what he is pressing the government to do.

The group has been pushing for the realization of the talks Raila is demanding, and inclusion of law changes that can help with entrenching the one man one vote one shilling mantra in the constitution.

It’s members are Mwangi Kiunjuri (Laikipia East), Njoroge Wainaina (Kieni), Betty Maina (Murang’a), Simon Kingara (Ruiru), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri) and Moses Kirima (Central Imenti).

Wamuchomba has confirmed that they are under attack and have been branded rebels but has stated they their ambitions shall remain intact.

“We will not be cowed to remain silent in the name of protecting the image of Kenya Kwanza administration, we support the government but we must also defend the rights of our people who sent us to Parliament, we want fair distribution of resources even as the bipartisan talks continue,” the parliamentarian told The Standard on phone.

Maina said that she is ready to be considered a rebel for fighting for the Mt Kenya people.

“If we tell Raila to table his returns, the common denominator should be placing our demands. Let us not be told to keep quite, if talking more is defending our community I am ready to be counted as those talking too much.

Other regions sponsor their children to undertake pilot courses and they get equalisation fund but that is not the same with us,” she told the paper.

This comes at a time when Raila is pushing for broadened talks with Ruto, which he wants to include the return of the four former IEBC commissioners who stood with him after the August elections.
